Background

Building an agro-industrial platform for Sabah

As agriculture continues to contribute to national development, SAIP supports the move toward higher-value agrofood and bioeconomy activities. Its role is to help transform raw agricultural potential into commercial, resilient and innovation-led industry growth.

SEDCO to Lead

From precinct development to commercial direction

SAIP was launched on 29 January 2008 through the Sabah Development Corridor. Located at Mile 30, Jalan River Benoni Diversion, Kimanis, the 215-acre precinct was developed to become a driver and catalyst for sustainable agrobiotech, agrofood and bioeconomy growth in Sabah.

Following state-level discussions in 2021, the management direction of SAIP moved toward stronger commercial coordination involving the Ministry of Industrial Development and SEDCO. In December 2023, the tripartite agreement between SEDCO, SEDIA and IDS marked an important milestone for SAIP’s next phase.
